SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
(By Senators Anderson and Whitlow)
Congratulating the Hinton High School girls' basketball team for
winning the Class AA state basketball championship for the
second consecutive year.
Whereas, The Hinton High School girls' basketball team has
competed in the West Virginia state girls' basketball tournament
for five consecutive years with a combined record of 106 wins and
only 19 losses; and
Whereas, The Hinton High School girls' basketball team won
the Class AA championship in 1992; and
Whereas, The Hinton High School girls' basketball team,
under the leadership of head coach Ron Williams and Wayne Ryan
and Doug Trail, assistant coaches, won the 1993 Class AA state
championship with a season record of 21-4; and
Whereas, The team, composed of seniors Kristen Keaton,
Celena Angell and Kim Robertson; underclassmen Jenny Mann,
Janette Yopp, Farrah Lilly, Sharon Yopp, Lori Shafer, Patricia
Sea, Joetta Cales, Erica Williams, Cheryl Cooper, Susan Turner
and Shelly Newton, as well as their support staff, including
Stephanie Meadows, Faith Fortner, Kristi Clark, Beth Farley,
Betty Jo Williams, Dave Ballard, Lin Goins, Jamie Goins and A.W.
Ryan, II, is to be commended for their athletic ability and
leadership and for bringing the pride of their accomplishment tothe students and faculty of Hinton High School, the city of
Hinton and the county of Summers; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Hinton High School girls' basketball team is hereby
commended for its outstanding basketball history and for winning
the 1991-1992 and 1992-1993 Class AA state championships; and, be
it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to Ron Williams, head coach;
Wayne Ryan and Doug Trail, assistant coaches; and the Hinton High
School girls' basketball team members.
